Every strategy game has a map. In Last Thaw, the map is the clock.

Last Thaw is a free browser strategy game played on a real map of Earth over thirty real days. Each match starts with players as five families of hunter-gatherers dropped somewhere on the globe. From there it’s the usual climb: gather, build, research, trade, raid, and work your way from the Stone Age toward the Medieval.

The twist is the ice. An ice age advances from both poles on a fixed schedule that every player can see from day one. Regions above the ice line stop producing and start losing people. The north and the far south go first, and by the final week everyone who’s still standing is packed around the equator. There’s one winner and a hard end date.

A few things set it apart:

– **It runs on real time.** No turns and no pause. Queues, research and armies keep moving while you’re offline, so it fits around a workday instead of eating your weekend.

– **The map is real.** 408 regions built from real borders, each worth roughly the same. Big countries just contain more of them, and no region has every resource, so you trade, ally or take what you’re missing.

– **Matches never stall.** A new one opens every week and runs exactly thirty days. AI tribes fill the empty seats.

– **It’s fair and free.** One account per person, suspicious accounts get a human review rather than an automatic ban, and any paid features that ever show up won’t touch combat or the economy.

Last Thaw is still in beta, and testers are wanted. If you like strategy games that reward checking in rather than grinding, this is a good time to get in early, help shape it, and claim a spot on the map before the ice does.
